I just spend 2 days exploring Calcutta and beyond on the back of Mowgli’s beloved 1972 Royal Enfield, and what can I say? They were two of the happiest days of my life to date. I have been on many tours, in many cities, all over the world, and this is honestly the first time I can say I really felt enveloped by the people and the place I was visiting. Being a passenger on a bike affords you an amazing opportunity to connect with passers-by, if only sometimes for fleeting moments, in a way that cannot be done from the detached backseat of an Innova. Calcutta is a gorgeously decaying city that is best viewed with a 360 degree panorama. The traffic lends itself to being navigated by bike, especially by a driver as skilled and passionate as Mowgli. We saw things and met people that no amount of guidebook scouring could ever produce. Our two days together (along with my boyfriend and his dear driver Farouk), produced memories and friendships I will cherish forever. Calcutta is one of the great cities of the world. If you are lucky enough to get there, you must find Mowgli. Both the experience and the company will fill your heart with joy. Stacia Bangalore, India

A 3 day trip to the Sundarbans with Backpacker Tours was one of the highlights of our trip to India. The region is beautiful and the people extremely warm. Our guide Ajay took care of everything we could have needed and provided a wealth of information on everything from wildlife to local customs. We'd recommnend this excursion to all! Thanks once again, Terry and Audrey. Montreal, Canada

I do not work for National Geogrpahic or Lonely Planet, but I've been on a tour or two and as a person who's first love is traveling, i do not hesitate to tell you that my Sundarban Tour with Backpackers is the best one I've ever been on. EVER. I anticipated the beauty of the mangrove and the peacefulness of sleeping on a boat and was not for one moment disappointed, but it was the staff of this company that made this trip so remarkable. Mere moments after stepping foot into their office, my friend and (I even before consulting each other), knew that this was the company we wanted to go with and i am so very thankful that we did. They will tell you that they love their job, but they needn't because you can already see it. Their warm and generous hospitality is matched by their honest and hardworking professionalism and their enthusiasm will deceive you into thinking they themselves are on tour with you for the first time! They would probably want me to include here that we saw a Bengal Tiger on our trip, WHICH WE DID! ...but i have to tell you that on my own personal list of highlights (which is a lengthy one), it comes second to the reaction TO the tiger :) Running excitedly back and forth across the boat flailing our arms about, yelling joyfully and then jumping and dancing afterwards in celebration ties for first place with the enjoyment of the company of the beautiful people of the local villages and that of Rajesh, Mowgley, Ajay and Sanjay. Thank you so much for making this experience so amazingly memorable.

Amazing trip all the three times i went. All three of you brothers know how to make the trip fits the group. Every time was different because of that. And you really know a lot about this place! I love Elmar, it's a very nice boat to relax one day in the jungle. Keep on going doing like this!

Backpackers is fantastic! We saw monitor lizards, crocodiles, all 7 species of kingfishers, wild boar, deer and much more! AJ was a great guide and is a very special person. We finally got a taste of real India. This is true ecotourism - we supported many families with this trip and respect Backpackers mission. We planned on staying for 2 nights, but ended up staying 5 nights because it was so wonderful.
